The Chemical Biology and Therapeutics department is looking for a highly motivated and versatile candidate for a Research Scientist position to support chemo-proteomic and covalent drug discovery efforts by mass spectrometry.

Experience with general protein biochemical lab techniques (SDS-PAGE, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, tissue culture) is required, and exposure to protein/peptide analysis by mass spectrometry is highly desired.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to grow into new fields by adoption of new techniques, and the ability to work independently and accurately on several concurrent projects in a highly dynamic environment. Applicants should have good organizational, team and communication skills, and should be able to critically and objectively interpret results and present findings to stakeholders.

Your responsibilities:

• Mammalian cell culture
• Application of common chemo-proteomic workflows and sample preparation methods
• Operation and maintenance of liquid chromatography mass spectrometers and associated equipment in support of discovery programs
• Data reduction and analysis using equipment vendor and 3rd party software
• Preparation of reports summarizing results and interpretation

Minimum Requirements

• B.S. in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, biology or related field, plus a minimum of one year relevant experience.
• Experience with cell culture as well as standard biochemistry lab techniques/practices
• Additional experience with protein/peptide analysis by mass spectrometry and chemo-proteomic workflows and/or other biophysical characterization techniques is considered a plus
• Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and summarize results independently

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $80,000 and $120,000/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
