Position Summary

A Research Associate I (RAI) position is available at City of Hope, one of a prestigious group of NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers. The candidate will join a highlycompetitive research lab to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying transcriptional controland cell signaling during cancer initiation and progression using "cutting-edge" andunbiased in vitro biological approaches and genetically engineered mouse models (please seeour recent publications: PLoS Genet 2020 Jan 13:16(1):e1008588; Development 2021 Jan11:148(1):dev196048; Development 2021 Oct 1:148(19):dev199738; Nat Commun 2022 Jul28:13:4364; Nat Commun 2022 Nov 2:13:6552).

The successful candidate should be highly self-motivated, strong desire to learn, and have great compassion and interest with medical and biological research and excellent communication skills. Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Associate I will perform a variety of in vitro and in vivo experiments. The candidate should have abilities to work with stress and meeting for deadlines. In addition, she/he should be able to plan experimental approaches to a research project with consulting with the Principal Investigator; making necessary technical troubleshooting, reads scientific abstracts and articles; contribute original ideas to the laboratory research; standardize new techniques and train staff on these techniques; prepare written reports of laboratory experimental methods.

Essential Functions:

• Utilizing laboratory equipment and established protocols, performs a variety of research experiments. Records and validates results for accuracy and completeness.
• Write standard operating procedures and reports.
• Maintains records of work performed including results and methodology, utilizing records may calculate, graph and compile data.
• Develops techniques and expertise in one or more areas relevant to laboratory research project.
• Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality. Expresses ideas clearly and constructively.
• Developing abilities to work independently and with pressure.
• Works proactively and collaboratively with others to streamline work and achieve mutual goals.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

• Bachelor's degree in biological sciences
• 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills
