Human Gross Anatomist

The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine is seeking a human gross anatomist to serve as an educator in the Department of Biomedical Sciences.

Job Description: 

The Biomedical Sciences Department provides basic-science instruction to a diverse student body enrolled in UMKC’s medical and allied-health degree programs.  The department also provides anatomy courses to dental and dental hygiene students in the UMKC School of Dentistry.  Instructional methods include lectures, small-group and team-based learning sessions, and labs that use cadaver dissection and prosection, models, and virtual technologies.  

There are potential opportunities for research collaboration with the current anatomy faculty, whose interests include biological anthropology, morphometrics, vertebrate paleontology, clinical anatomy, and medical education.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

The primary responsibility is to provide instruction in human gross anatomy to professional students in the UMKC Schools of Medicine and Dentistry.  Participation in service for the Department and School is also expected.  Research or other scholarly activity is strongly encouraged.  Candidates with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are particularly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in anatomical sciences or any related field that includes training in anatomy at the graduate/professional level.  ABDs will be considered if nearing completion of dissertation.

Full Time/PartTime:

The position includes a full-time, twelve-month, benefit-eligible, ranked non-tenure-track appointment (at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Teaching Professor), with a start date of June 1, 2023.

Opportunity for ranked promotion at the Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor levels.

Rank and Salary:

Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
