Job Description (R0135187)

The Wen lab at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our efforts in profiling immune system responses to inflammation following cardiovascular injuries. Qualified applicants will have multiple opportunities to perform cutting-edge immunological research and collaborate with our interdisciplinary team of a NIH-funded cardiovascular research center focusing on intercellular and intracellular signaling pathways.

Our lab has a broad interest in studying how the immune system functions, involving especially neutrophils in inflammation. The primary focus is to apply biosensors and transgenic mouse models to directly visualize immune cell recruitment and function during inflammation, infection and tissue injury in vitro and in vivo. We study inflammatory responses and signaling at molecular, cellular and whole organism levels using state-of-the-art technology, including genome editing, multi-color flow cytometry, TIRF microcopy, intravital imaging, resonant-scanning confocal, and FRET microscopy.

The projects will be based on recent discoveries on the receptor integrin signaling and second messengers (cAMP/cGMP/Ca2+): Wen et al. Blood 2022. 139 (24): 3480–3492; Wen et al. Cell Reports. 2022. 39, 110876; Wen et al. Blood. 2021; 137 (1): 29–38; Wen et al. Nat Commun. 2018, 9, 4301; Thunemann M.*, Wen L.*, et al. Circ Res. 2013, 113, 365-371.
