A Postdoctoral Research Scientist (PRS) or Associate Research Scientist (ARS) in the laboratory of Dr. Joseph Garcia works in close coordination with existing program members and under the direction of Dr. Garcia. The overall goal of the laboratory is to determine how stress induced by oxygen, dietary, and other alterations affects mammalian physiology and pathophysiology. The PRS/ARS will be involved with a range of activities, including: Overall design, performance, and analysis of experiments; Data summary, Statistical analysis, Implementation of workflow improvements; Molecular biology activities; Protein biology experiments; Mammalian tissue culture experiments; Rodent husbandry and experiments; Confocal and Light microscopy, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemical analysis of mammalian cells and tissues; Isolation and Measurements of Nucleic Acid, Protein, Metabolites from mammalian cells and tissues; Deep sequencing, Epigenetic and other Large data set analysis of mammalian cell and tissue as well as microbiome samples. It is also expected that the PRS/ARS will participate and aid in general lab management and operations to maintain optimal operational capacity of the laboratory.
