ROLE SUMMARY

As the Global Influenza Medical Director, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Global Influenza Medical Affairs Lead development and execution of strategic medical and scientific activities. The incumbent should be experienced with designing, evaluating, interpreting, summarizing, and presenting real-world evidence and will be skillful with data visualization and presentation tools to convert complex analysis into meaningful insights. In addition to the analytic component of the position, the incumbent will develop and deliver presentations, webinars, and other communication outlets, as needed. The Influenza Vaccines portfolio is expanding rapidly. Growth of mRNA technology is likely to continue to be rapid for the next few years becoming a critical vaccine platform for the Vaccines BU. This position will be on the cutting edge for defining applications of this new technology at Pfizer moving forward.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Global Influenza Medical Director, the incumbent will be responsible for executing global medical affairs activities for the influenza development program. This will entail the following:
  • Support the Medical Lead for the Medical and Lifecycle Plans and deliverables for influenza vaccines.
  • Lead on the implementation of real-world data (RWD) across global meetings and materials
  • Responsible for communicating RWD, clinical and pre-clinical data at key scientific meetings
  • In partnership with country colleagues, supports the co-creation of global materials for promotion, in compliance with Pfizer policy
  • Partner closely with country medical colleagues to ensure alignment and execution of medical plans consistent with brand strategy
  • Support successful launch and recommendations for influenza vaccines.
  • Provides medical expertise and support for medical and commercial advisory boards and education programs.
  • Provides medical information on existing and emerging data in response to questions from internal and external stakeholders
  • Provides medical knowledge and support for in-line commercial development activities including such activities as promotional message development.
  • Critiques internally and externally written manuscripts/published literature
  • Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with external partners and institutions.
  • Contribute to the integration of scientific information (epidemiology, disease burden, public health value, etc.) in the influenza vaccine asset.
  • Support the execution of epidemiology studies - both field studies involving primary data collection and secondary analyses of real-world data or registries.


QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree in relevant area of pharmaceutical/clinical/biological science
  • Relevant experience required: 10 - 14 years with bachelor's degree; 8-12 years with MBA/MS; 6 or more years with terminal degree
  • Experience in vaccines, infectious diseases, epidemiology, and public health
  • Experience of reviewing and approving real-world data for implementation in promotional, medical and commercial meetings and materials and communicating real-world data
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, and proven track record of delivering high quality within timelines.
  • Clinical, formulary, and/or other management experience
  • Data Analytics and/or HEOR activities, with demonstrated strong methodological skills (study design, data analysis, and interpretation) in health services research
  • Demonstrate a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including the ability to influence and collaborate with peers and create business impact
  • Demonstrated track record of high performance and excellence.
  • Ability to analyze, define, and convey complex concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Well-organized with the ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands, and effectively lead in a matrix organization.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Immunology, vaccines, or infectious disease experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Medical Affairs experience in a pharmaceutical organization
  • Experience analyzing healthcare data
  • Successfully interacted with regulatory agencies regarding vaccines indication and/or labeling.
  • Significant cross-functional leadership/management experience.
  • Knowledge of influenza and influenza vaccines is desirable but not required.
