The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. Your responsibilities include:

Interdisciplinary Research in the Field of Flame Retardancy of Polymers, in particular:

• Thermal analysis (e.g. TG-FTIR, pyrolysis GC/MS)
• Flammability and fire behaviour (LOI, UL 94, cone calorimeter)
• Polymer analysis (e.g. SEM, FTIR)
• Evaluation of mechanisms and modes of action
• Validation of novel concepts (e.g. sustainable flame retardancy, flame retardant lightweight construction)
• Documentation, presentation, and publication of the results

Your qualifications:

• Successfully completed university studies in the field of Polymer Science or comparable
• Ph.D. Polymer Science
• Experience and knowledge in the field pyrolysis and flame retardancy of polymers
• Knowledge and experience of thermal analysis and polymer analysis
• Good knowledge of English (written and spoken)
• Good communication and information behaviour, ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate, as well as goal-oriented and structured way of working
• initiative/commitment and conceptual, strategic and innovative thinking skills
