Summary

The lab of Dr. Sean Hartig at Baylor College of Medicine focuses on metabolic regulation of gene expression. Baylor College of Medicine, one of the top ranked medical schools in the country, is well known for its exceptional, innovative, and collaborative research environment. We are currently recruiting postdoctoral fellows with backgrounds in metabolism and gene regulation to work in our laboratory (Cell Metabolism. 34:1932-1946, 2022). The candidate will likely use a combination of genetic mouse models, flow cytometry, and cell culture to explore how chronic HIV infection and anti-retroviral therapies alter energy balance. The lab provides an interactive and stimulating environment as well as opportunities for growth and career development. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, well organized, manage time effectively, and have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The ideal candidate will be required to conduct experimental research, design one or more specific phases of entire projects, and publish manuscripts as a lead author. Job Duties

  • Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
    • The research topic is on endocrine and metabolic factors that govern liver homeostasis in the context of chronic HIV infection and anti-retroviral therapies.
  • Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
  • Maintains laboratory operations.
  • May supervise research staff.


Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.
