Starting Salary £52,877 - £77,154 per annum
MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge UK

The PNAC Division invites applications for a Group Leader or tenure track Group Leader position at the internationally renowned, multidisciplinary LMB institute.  We seek a colleague with an exciting and innovative research vision, and an outstanding track-record, to address fundamental questions relating to cellular and molecular mechanisms of immunity and infection.

The position provides core funding support and open access to excellent core facilities including light and electron microscopy, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, mouse house, and electronic and mechanical workshops.

The primary selection criteria are scientific excellence and the potential for synergy with existing research programmes. You should hold a PhD and have an excellent publication record with outstanding potential for independent research.

Informal enquiries can be made to Andrew McKenzie (anm@mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk).

The salary will be supported by defined benefit pension scheme and excellent holiday entitlement (40½ days including bank holidays and privilege days).  The LMB is located in Cambridge, UK, and is part of a vibrant scientific community that includes the University of Cambridge teaching hospitals, industry, and other research institutes. We are committed to creating a diverse workforce and encourage applications from those under-represented at this level.

This role qualifies for endorsement by UKRI for a UK Global Talent Visa, for which the successful applicant is likely to be eligible to apply. Immigration costs (visa and health surcharge) can be reclaimed from UKRI after taking up the post (terms and conditions apply).

Additional information:
Appointments are made at Programme Leader-track level for those who demonstrate potential to develop into Programme Leaders within six years, or at Programme Leader level for those with substantial experience.

Submissions should include a covering letter and full CV, an outline of current research interests (1 page) and a proposal for an innovative research programme addressing an important question in immunity and/or infection (up to 2 pages). Please include the names and addresses of three referees who have agreed to be contacted prior to interview.

Closing date: The post will remain open until it is filled but applications received by 26th February 2023 will receive priority.
Interview date: Interviews are likely to be held 28th - 30th March 2023.

Final appointments will be subject to a pre-employment screening.
