ROLE SUMMARY

The Medical Director will provide leadership and expertise and will play a critical role as an integral member of the Rare Hematology/Sickle Cell Disease cross-functional team. He/she will work with the US Rare Hematology Medical Team Lead to drive key internal and external medical initiatives such as establishing and maintaining relationships with KOLs, conducting advisory boards, providing medical leadership in product Review Committee and in product- and therapeutic area-based training. He/she will provide therapeutic area/product expertise in sickle cell disease and understand the patient's and physician's point of view. He/she supports the US Medical Affairs operating plan and provides medical leadership to achieve successful medical launch and support the portfolio through the product lifecycle while putting the patient first within the spectrum of the Pfizer Core Values and Behaviors.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Proactively incorporates patients' and physicians' voices in the development of medical strategies and tactics as well as the needs of customers, including payers.
  • Ensures effective cross-functional and US-global alignment
  • Supports development and execution of medical strategies for phase IV research, publication planning, and advisory board implementation.
  • Contributes to data generation/analyses and ensures medical and scientific accuracy of manuscripts and abstracts/posters.
  • Provides medical support and input on labeling and regulatory interactions.
  • Supports activities related to safety evaluations and reporting requirements.
  • Ensures Medical accuracy of content for promotional materials and sales training. Coordinate medical support for concept development. Provide US commercial support in the development of promotional activities. Partner with legal and regulatory colleagues to ensure compliant and accurate content. Ensure high quality medical content of all promotional activities.
  • Supports/leads development of ISRs in the US.
  • Serve as a reliable, trusted resource of accurate, current medical and scientific knowledge (e.g.: disease states, product label, statistics interpretation, etc.), including competitive medicines, for internal and external stakeholders and customers
  • Provides medical information on existing and emerging data in response to questions from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides medical knowledge and support in preparation for launch readiness, including such activities as promotional message development and product training for the sales force.
  • Contributes to the development and presentation of operating plans.
  • Ensures medical strategies are aligned into the commercial strategy and its implementation, where appropriate.
  • Ensures medical strategies developed reflect customer insights.
  • Builds trust among team members and broader stakeholders by setting a highly visible example of medical excellence.
  • Applies clinical knowledge as required.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • MD/DO professional degree required
  • 3+ years of experience required
  • Relationship builder within and outside of Pfizer
  • Regulatory/Safety/Clinical trial experience
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Team oriented for success
  • Cross functional effectiveness with demonstration of effective collaboration within and across partner lines
  • Leading effectively in a matrix or direct manner with proven track record of ability to work successfully with cross-functional colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to execute strategies and projects from inception to completion
  • Very strong communication and relationship building capacity.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Specialty training, board certification, patient care and/or Medical Affairs experience in Hemoglobinopathies Sickle Cell Disease preferred.

  • Ability to travel 25%.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $207,200.00 to $345,500.00. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Salary range does not apply to the Tampa, FL location.

Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs and/or eligibility.
