The Division of Endocrinology in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is recruiting a full-time scientist as an Assistant Professor, Tenure Track. This position will involve continued work towards developing a research program in the investigation of how brain senses macronutrient status and coordinates behavioral and physiological responses to maintain macronutrient homeostasis and prevent metabolic dysfunction.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent. A prior postdoctoral research training in Neuroscience and Pharmacology is required. Candidates must have previous experience with techniques utilized in analysis of mitochondria function in the brain including analysis of mitochondria function following injury including that from metabolic abnormalities. Additionally, candidates must have previous experience with analysis of animal models of mitochondria dysfunction in neurons as well as analysis of gene expression and function in Neurons. Familiarity with mouse models of obesity and diabetes is also required.

A training in Metabolism and an interest in research in an academic setting and a record of publications in the field of Neuroscience and Pharmacology are preferred. Also, expertise in biochemical and molecular biology techniques, immunohistochemistry and nutrition.
