We are seeking 2-3 Postdoctoral Research Fellows to join the Alzheimer’s Disease Network Medicine and Artificial Intelligence research group (https://www.lerner.ccf.org/gmi/cheng/) directed by Dr. Feixiong Cheng at the Genomic Medicine Institute, Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute, and Department of Molecular Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University. The primary goal of the Cheng laboratory is to create and combine tools from genomics and genetics (PMIDs:33558758 [Nature Genetics 2021], 33514395 [Genome Biology 2021], and 33627474 [Genome Research 2021]), artificial intelligence (PMID:35411337 [Nature Machine Intelligence 2022]), electronic health records (100 million electronic patient records, PMID:32984792 [Lancet Digital Health 2020]), network medicine/pharmacology (PMIDs:35572351 [Nature Aging 2021], 31375661, 30002366 and 30867426 [Nature Communications 2018, 2019a and 2019b]), and experimental systems biology assays (PMID:36217030 [Nature Biotechnology 2022]), to address the challenging questions toward better understanding of human complex diseases, in particular for Alzheimer’s disease (AD), which could have a major impact in identifying real-world big data-driven diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for precision medicine and drug discovery (PMIDs:36450252 [Cell Reports 2022], 33852912 [Cell 2021], 36331056 & 36254161 [Alzheimer's & Dementia 2022a and 2022b], and 30988527 [Nature Neuroscience 2019]).

Highly motivated candidates will join our NIH-funded research projects focusing on analyzing, visualizing, and mining data from real-world (e.g., EHRs) and experiments that profile the molecular state of human cells and tissues by interactomics (protein-protein interactions), genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, radiomics, and metabolomics for drug discovery and precision patient care. The postdoctoral fellow will have great opportunities to collaborate with diverse groups of physicians, genetics, and computational biologists, and get access the large-scale patient data at the Genomic Medicine Institute, Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute, Taussig Cancer Institute at Cleveland Clinic, The Cleveland Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (CADRC) at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, and Cas Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Case Western Reserve University.

Requirements:

1. Highly motivated candidates with a PhD/MD degree in bioinformatics, systems biology, biomedical informatics, computational biology, machine learning, data science, genome science, pharmacogenomics, and related fields are encouraged to apply.

2. Strong research experiences in human genetics, animal studies, behavior tests, patient iPSC-derived neuron/microglia/astrocyte models.

3. Strong computational backgrounds, proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., R, Python, Perl, C++, Java) and knowledge of statistics and mathematics are required.

4. Training experience in artificial intelligence (such as machine learning and deep learning), experience working in high computing cluster environment, experience working with Alzheimer’s Disease Sequencing Project (ADSP), TopMed, TCGA, ICGC, GTEx, 1000 Genomes, UK-biobank, ENCODE, or ExAC, PDB, or other large-scale DNA/RNA-seq (including bulk and single-cell/nucleus) data analysis is highly preferred.

5. A good understanding of biology, genetics and genomics, cell signaling networks, gene regulatory networks, and human protein-protein interactome is also preferred.

6. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.

How to Apply: Interested applicants should send a cover letter describing your research experience/skills and research statement/plan (2-3 pages), a curriculum vitae and the contact information of three referees to Dr. Feixiong Cheng (chengf@ccf.org) with the subject line ‘Postdoc-Application - Your Name’.

Application Deadline: Positions are open immediately until filled.
