Department of Surgery – Associate or Assistant Professor, PhD Investigator

The Department of Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time tenure track Investigator at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This person will help grow our federally funded research program, consistent with departmental and university missions. S/he will continue to develop and sustain ongoing collaborative relationships with research leadership throughout the department and the university.

Qualified candidates may be a scientist or physician-scientist, with a PhD (with or without an MD), and must have an established record of extramural funding to support research efforts in the general areas of inflammation, immunology, and/or tissue healing, as these relate to surgical diseases. For physician applicants, additional requirements include: (1) board-certification or eligibility by the American Board of Surgery and pertinent subspecialty, if applicable; (2) completion of an accredited fellowship or equivalent training in their respective area of practice, and (3) eligibility to obtain permanent Illinois licensure. S/he must have federal grant funding with the potential of developing a National Research Service Award Institutional Research Training Program (T32) in the department, and be willing to engage in collaborative projects in basic/translational science and clinical research.
