Position Summary

The Diamond lab has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Research Associate II scientist with an interestin immune monitoring in preclinical and clinical vaccine studies.The successful candidate will join a team committed to immunologically evaluate experimental vaccines for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and for cytomegalovirus (CMV), which is a major viral complication after bone marrow or solid organ transplant and in pregnant women. Both vaccines have been developed at City of Hope by the Diamond group. The position will be jointly mentored by Flavia Chiuppesi, PhD and Don J. Diamond, PhD.

It will be the responsibility of the candidateto conduct immune monitoringin in laboratory animals undergoing preclinical studies and in patients/volunteers who are enrolled inthe clinical trials. In vitro immunoassays, including but not limited to ELISA and neutralization assays, will be used to analyze vaccine and viral responses.

Candidates should have a strong background inviral immunology, with documented experience in developing and performing immunoassays using serum samples. Experience in cell culture, data analysis software, and high throughput immunoassays is a plus.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Bachelors degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Microbiology or other related field with 2 years of experience or Masters with 1 year of experience is required
  • Strong background in immunology, with documented experience in developing and performing immunoassays including ELISA and neutralization assays.
  • Experience in cell culture, data analysis software, and high throughput immunoassays is a plus.

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate's experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
