Dr. Chen is the Director of Division of Epigenetics and Transcriptional Engineering at City of Hope. His lab focuses on epigenetic mechanisms, drug resistance, and therapeutic target discovery in cancers using high throughput genetic screens. This laboratory is skilled in high-throughput CRISPR genetic screens for de novo therapeutic target discovery. They also utilize next-generation sequencing (NGS) for epigenomic and transcriptomic analyses (ChIPseq, ATACseq, RNAseq, etc.), and the patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models for in vivo therapeutic efficacy assessments. In addition, Dr. Chen's laboratory is involved in cutting-edge technology development including high-density CRISPR protein scan, precision epigenome editing, and single-cell CRISPR/RNA-seq. The lab is well funded by the NIH (R37 MERIT, R01s, U54) and foundation (ASH, LLS, ALSF, COSF, SU2C-CRUK) awards.

Laboratory skills:
  • Mammalian cell culture and animal model studies.
  • CRISPR gene editing and screens.
  • High-throughput sequencing and data analysis (ChIPseq, ATACseq, RNAseq, sc-RNAseq, etc.)
  • Molecular cloning and biochemical analyses (qPCR, Western, co-IP, etc.)

Key Responsibilities include:
  • We are looking for highly motivated individuals with the ability to work in a team environment. Genuine enthusiasm for science, willingness to think beyond established concepts and to try and learn new experimental and analysis tools.
