The Cancer Center at Illinois (CCIL) is leading the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s (UIUC) campus-wide recruitment of mid-career and senior level cancer-focused researchers. We are seeking several investigators at the Associate Professor and Professor levels who possess a demonstrated track record of cancer research productivity and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Selected researchers may be awarded the title of Phil and Ann Sharp Scholar in Cancer Research, and exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for appointment as the Phil and Ann Sharp Endowed Chair in Cancer Research.

Candidates may come from a broad range of disciplines and will be expected to hold tenured positions in one or more UIUC academic departments. In addition to their activities within their home unit, they would also become CCIL members, and potentially assume leadership positions at the program leader or associate director level.

The CCIL emphasizes collaborative technology-biology-drug discovery approaches to cancer research, uniting world-class faculty, resources, and students to initiate and harness the combined power of engineering, technology, and the basic sciences to transform cancer research, detection, and treatment. The current 100+ Cancer Center members represent over 25 departments across campus.

The CCIL features two research programs, Cancer Measurement Technology and Data Science and Cancer Discovery Platforms Bridging the Engineering-Biology Continuum, along with a wide variety of educational and training activities. Candidates will contribute to and collaborate within these research programs and will play an integral role in leading the CCIL to achieve its strategic objectives.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through research, teaching, and/or service.
