As a metabolomics expert in the Translational Profiling group within the Chemical Biology and Therapeutics department of NIBR, you will have the opportunity to use your knowledge in this fascinating field between chemistry and biology in the development of innovative medicines to improve lives of patients. The Translational Profiling group is a global team of proteomics, metabolomics, imaging and data science expertise, located in Basel, Switzerland and Cambridge, MA sites. We lead break-through therapeutic innovation in drug discovery by reimagining analytical technologies.

We are seeking a Senior Principal Scientist-Metabolomics to be based out of our Cambridge, MA office. In this role, you will lead a team of experts in Cambridge and play a leading role in maintaining our technologies at the cutting-edge and developing our global strategy in the metabolomics field. What you’ll be doing: Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead, oversee and/or participate in high impact metabolomics and lipidomics projects as part of drug discovery programs ranging from early research to the translation to patients.
• Provide matrix leadership to a team of experts in analytics and mass spectrometry
• Initiate, lead and contribute to interdisciplinary research programs in a highly collaborative and matrixed manner across internal groups and with external partners.
• Maintain a state-of-the art lipidomic and metabolomics technology platform by keeping up-to-date with external technology developments and internal project requirements and priorities
• Champion innovative technology and cross-disciplinary initiatives for biomedical research
• Provide growth and development opportunities for the team, coaching and mentoring of junior scientists and/or project team and enable work of direct/matrix reports or key collaborators within functional community

This position will be located at the Cambridge, MA site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. This position will require 1% travel as defined by the business (domestic and/ or international).

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role: (required)
• PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Analytical Sciences, or a related discipline with 5+ years of relevant postdoctoral experience in biomedical or pharmaceutical research, with emphasis in lipidomics and/or metabolomics with 8+ years of industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and growing diverse research teams and team members.
• Extensive knowledge of and experience with metabolomics and lipidomic approaches and technologies applied in biomedical and translational research.
• Strong publication record with significant contributions in the metabolomics field.
• Good understanding of data analysis and biostatistics techniques.
• A collaborative, innovative mindset and ability to adapt quickly to dynamic, fast paced multi-disciplinary research environment.
• Demonstrated communication and presentation skills with multidisciplinary audiences across different seniority levels.

Desirable
• Experience in translational research.
• Experience with multi-omics data integration and knowledge of advanced data science approaches and coding.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $144-198K a year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
