[Available Positions] One opening for Researcher for the research and development of culture and material production technologies using microorganisms

 

Symbiobe Inc. is an environmental biotechnology venture originating from Kyoto University, established in January 2021.

We have unique cultivation technologies for photosynthetic bacteria and production technologies for biopolymers and other useful substances, and by promoting industrial implementation of these technologies, we are building a resource-recycling material production platform that makes effective utilization of CO2 (carbon dioxide) and N2 (nitrogen) in the air.

To further strengthen and accelerate the development of large-scale culture technology for photosynthetic bacteria, we are looking for a new member to join us in the research and development of new technology.

 

[Required qualification/academic background]

  • Ph.D. in life sciences, chemical engineering, materials science, biotechnology or related fields.

 

[Required experience/conditions]

  • Experience in research of culture and biomaterial production using microorganisms.
  • Experience in molecular biology research for genetic engineering of microorganisms.
  • Experience with photosynthetic microorganisms is a plus.

 

[Preferred experience/conditions]

  • English: Business level
  • Japanese: Conversational level is a plus.

[Compensation & Benefits]

  • Monthly salary: 400,000 to 600,000 yen (dependent on experience and ability)
  • Commuting expenses: will be reimbursed (within designated range)
  • Period of employment: Until 31 December 2023
    • Renewal in one-year terms is possible only with the agreement of both parties.
    • Contract renewal is dependent upon the following: ability; workload, work achievements, workplace attitude, etc. at the time of completion of the contract.

 

  • Working days and time: 2 days off per week; 9:00 to 18:00
  • Days off: Sunday, Saturday, Public Holidays, New Year holiday period, and other dates determined by the company
  • Leave: Annual paid leave, summer leave
  • Insurance: Employment insurance, worker’s accident insurance, health insurance, welfare pension
