Postdoc in Developmental and Stem Cell Biology -- University of California, San Diego

The Cook-Andersen and Parast laboratories are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to study early human embryo development using cutting-edge technologies.  The goal of this collaborative, funded project is to uncover the molecular mechanisms and network of regulatory factors that control cell differentiation, developmental progression and successful implantation of the human embryo. Approaches used will integrate both human embryo and stem cell-based in vitro models.

In this project, the fellow will gain expertise in stem cell, developmental, placental and computational biology. Our laboratories are located in the the Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine (SCRM) building in La Jolla, which is a highly collaborative environment co-occupied by labs from UCSD, Salk, and Sanford-Burnham as well as state-of-the-art core facilities. The candidate will be part of a vibrant stem cell and reproductive biology community, centered in the SCRM and encompassing the many research institutions on the surrounding Mesa.

Experience in stem cell biology, embryology, genomics/epigenomics, and/or computational biology is preferred.  Candidates with a strong background in other fields (e.g., molecular biology/biochemistry, developmental biology, bioengineering, etc.) are also invited to apply.  Applications from groups under-represented in science are also highly encouraged.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, CV and the names of (or letters from) at least 3 references.  Stipend will be commensurate with experience and follow or exceed the NIH scale. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
