Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise in human cancer organoid generation.
  • Provide oversight to the activities related to organoid models, including quality control of tissue specimens and slides, protocol optimization, troubleshooting, and analysis and interpretation of results.
  • Work with the Center Director and other Research Scientists and interact with investigators and scientific and technical staff within the Center.
  • Interact with external/industry collaborators.
  • Assist with the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications.
  • Present data at scientific meetings as needed.
  • The Cancer Organoid Models and Preclinical Drug Development Lead will supervise two technical assistants.

 

Qualifications:

  • DVM, Ph.D., MD, or combination of advanced degrees, with a minimum of 4 years of postdoctoral experience in experimental therapeutics, preferably in the area of oncology. Industry experience is a plus. 
  • Experience designing and executing a preclinical biomarker strategy.
  • Advanced experience with human cell culture techniques, including organoid generation and maintenance.
  • Prior experience with project management.
  • Experience leading a team, preferably a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work closely and effectively with a diverse group of individuals from trainees to senior leaders in both academia and industry.
  • A strong record of scientific excellence and a willingness to apply knowledge and skills to experimental therapeutics.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated.
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills.
