FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Biological Sciences at HUNTER COLLEGE OF THE CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK (CUNY) invites applications for a named Chair tenure track position at the Associate or Professor rank.  This position will establish the Clara M. Szego Endowed Professorship in Molecular, Cell & Developmental Biology.  The endowment provides added compensation and a research allowance.  We are seeking an established scholar with a current record of extramural funding and a continuing history of publications in relevant journals.  

This position is open to all areas of biology but we seek candidates with research interests that intersect with the College’s current focus on Cancer Biology, Community Health, or Health Inequities.  We are particularly interested in candidates whose research is relevant to genomic, translational, or intervention sciences. 

Hunter College has an urban, ethnically diverse student population.  Candidates whose scholarship addresses inequities of biological function and well-being in diverse contemporary populations will be given special consideration. 

Responsibilities include developing a research program that involve undergraduate and graduate students, teaching courses in areas related to the candidates scholarly and research interests, advising students and supervising graduate and undergraduate student research.

QUALIFICATIONS

The individual hired must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree and an active program of research that can attract undergraduate and graduate students.  A strong research program is essential.  The ability to obtain external funding is necessary.

COMPENSATION

Salary is commensurate with experience, within the following ranges:

 

Associate Professor: $104,057-$117,806

Professor: $124,656-$141,858

In addition to the base salary, the position also includes an annual supplement of $30,000 and a research allowance.
