ROLE SUMMARY

The Internal Medicine Field Medical Payer Account Team Leader is responsible for managing operations and personnel for their assigned Payer Account team, including the recruitment, selection and supervision of their Field Based Payer Lead team, along with oversight responsibility for development and implementation of strategically aligned Payer centric goals based on alignment of medical and Payer account priorities.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and provide oversight for development and execution of payer account medical plans in order to lead, manage, develop, and coach a team of IM Field Medical Payer Account Medical Lead colleagues within the IM, Medical Outcomes and Analytics group (IM, MO&A)
  • Guide work prioritization and resource allocation within the team, and authorize expenditures for team related to travel, training, supplies, and other miscellaneous expenses
  • Ensure appropriate Payer colleague deployment and account prioritization based on aligned BU and PCA business priorities
  • Conduct HR-related functions for the assigned team (such as performance appraisals, salary planning, new colleague selection, colleague development plans, colleague retention, team culture, and conflict resolution) and manage concerns in a timely and compliant manner
  • Ensure team activities are conducted in compliance with all policies, guidelines, and regulations, and that team members complete all assigned trainings within the specified timeframe
  • Collaborate and partner effectively with Medical Governance team as appropriate
  • Partner with administrative professional staff to ensure effective support is provided to the Payer Account Medical Lead colleagues. Serve in leadership roles on internal workstreams and committees with national responsibility where high-level, strategic decisions are made and executed
  • Proactively and compliantly collaborate with HQ Medical Affairs and commercial colleagues as appropriate to shape and implement Payer customer-centric Medical strategy that supports regional and national brand operating plans and goals
  • Coordinate with PCA to ensure effective development and execution of Medical strategy that aligns and supports the broader enterprise payer account operating plan for target customer mix
  • Assist IM HQ Medical Affairs and aligned BU teams with the strategic planning, development, inclusion of Field Medical insights, and execution of strategic Medical plans that incorporate development and execution of appropriately aligned Payer Medical engagement strategy
  • Ensure that communication and collaboration between HQ Medical Affairs, the Payer Medical Team , and commercial functions are effective, appropriate, and compliant
  • Ensure direct reports compliantly provide objective and scientifically sound Medical information regarding Pfizer's portfolio and disease states through use of pharmacoeconomic models, outcomes tools, and data analytics
  • Support IM and aligned BU HQ Medical Affairs teams in the assessment and roll-out of major above brand strategic initiatives that impact the broader Payer market segment
  • Maintain exceptional market and Payer customer knowledge in an increasingly complex and dynamic marketplace
  • Take accountability for the Medical Review Committee approval process for Payer focused resources , ensuring appropriate approval of Medical content for IM Field Medical Payer customer use in accordance with Pfizer Medical policies and SOPs
  • Serve on IM, MO&A Field Medical and/or cross-functional committees and teams as requested by Medical Affairs leadership
  • Interface with executive medical decision-makers at MCOs, PBM's, Academic Institutions, key opinion leaders and/or other thought leaders that impact and influence the broader US Healthcare and Payer customer market
  • Understand, communicate, and adhere to current FDA and other US regulations and guidance that impact interactions with and delivery of medical information to Payer customer organizations and decision makers
  • Anticipate and lead team to effectively adopt new digital technology, on-demand, and other related offerings that improve the efficiency of IM, MO&A communications and activities and that enhance the overall Medical customer experience
  • Remain up to date on US Healthcare market and Payer centric trends, including developments in the scientific and medical literature that may influence and guide Payer customer decision making.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Terminal Doctorate degree required (PharmD, PhD)
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience, including significant experience in interacting with payers and other organized customers
  • Demonstrated understanding and/or experience in managing or actively working in the US Payer Market
  • Experience with Formulary Management, Managed Care, Quality Improvement, Pharmacoeconomic and/or Outcomes Research is desired
  • Demonstrate a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with internal/external SOPs/Rules/Regulations regarding Pfizer/customer interactions and relationships, etc.
  • Previous Field Medical experience
  • Graduation from a US accredited Healthcare program
  • Residency or fellowship
  • Pharmacy Degree.


NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to travel up to 50% which includes overnight travel; must have a valid, US Driver's License. Must meet and comply with all Corporate Travel and Fleet requirements, policies and procedures as applicable.
