The Wellcome Centre for Cell Biology (WCB) is a world-renowned research centre in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. Located in the vibrant city of Edinburgh, the WCB’s mission is to make ground-breaking discoveries that bridge the knowledge gap between genotype and cellular phenotype in health and disease. The Centre has an outstanding track record in fundamental molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying nuclear organisation, genome packaging and transmission, chromatin states and their interplay with RNA biology. The WCB offers a diverse and inclusive environment that fosters interaction and collaboration. We are equipped with state-of-the art facilities and instrumentation for molecular and cellular biological research, including core support in microscopy, bioinformatics, proteomics and structural biology.
The WCB is seeking an outstanding scientist to start an independent Research Group. We welcome applications from researchers addressing key questions in any area of cell biology, and particularly encourage the application of advanced imaging or structural biology technologies to discover cellular mechanisms. Successful candidates will have an impressive track record for their career stage and a compelling vision for independent research.
Research at WCB is supported by core facilities in light microscopy, electron microscopy, bioinformatics, mass-spectrometry, protein purification and biophysical characterisation.
Most group leaders within the WCB hold independent research fellowships and successful candidates will be supported in seeking independent funding.
For more information about the WCB see: www.wcb.ed.ac.uk.
Applications should include a CV, a 2 page research proposal and the names of three academic referees, and be emailed to admin.wcb@ed.ac.uk
The closing date for applications is Monday 13th February.
Informal enquiries are welcome to Adele Marston (Centre Director) or Robin Allshire (Deputy Director) via e-mail: DIRECTOR WTCCB <WCB.Director@ed.ac.uk>
