Are you an early career data scientist / analyst with a strong affinity for bioinformatics? This is an outstanding opportunity for a neurogeneticist / data scientist to work in the Global Parkinson’s Genetics Program (GP2). You will support data analysis and management for the Monogenic Data Analysis Working Group and have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with scientists within GP2 around the globe.
 

Role responsibilities

This role will focus on running and refining genomic analyses, data management, and data visualization workflows.

  • Support cloud-based and high-performance computing analyses as well as bioinformatic workflows
  • Support data sharing solutions for large genomics and clinical efforts in neurodegenerative disease
  • research
  • Manage clinical and genomics data flow
     

Ideal candidates

  • A master’s degree or BSc with 1-5 years of working experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, or similar
  • Solid experience in working in a Unix-like and high-performance computing (HPC) environmentt; cloud computing competency is a plus
  • Solid skills in R / Python / bash programming and version control / containerization
  • Familiar with developing and maintaining bioinformatic workflows (Snakemake, WDL, or Nextflow)
  • Ideally experience with NGS data analyses
  • A basic understanding of genomics / genetics is a plus
  • Strong communication skills that will enable effective participation in an interdisciplinary team of data analysts and biologists

This position will include opportunities for frequent travelling to partner institutes, growing your data science analytic skills, and publishing research in collaboration within GP2. The work location will be at the DZNE Tuebingen.
