The Sr. Director - Regional Medical Lead-is a field based cross-functional portfolio (Oncology) role, responsible for shaping, prioritizing, coordinating and leading the overarching medical account strategy at designated priority institutions, other Region accounts and aligned networks within the Region; delivering innovative and tailored scientific solutions from pipeline to launch and through life cycle management; executing above brand initiatives, and delivering a strong portfolio wide value proposition to our external stakeholders and population health decision makers (PHDMs). This role is responsible for optimizing all non-operational key account Medical: Customer engagements, aligning with the Oncology Customer Engagement Model to better support innovation for patients, building and strengthening the Account: Novartis relationship and delivering on the overall Novartis strategy.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Provide medical input into the enterprise-level strategic plan, in collaboration with medical colleagues and the RET for priority institutions, aligned networks and assigned Region accounts and as appropriate in compliant collaboration with the commercial colleagues incorporating medical strategy into the strategic account plan.
•Serve as a member of the RET providing updates on medical activities and opportunities while working collaboratively to establish the regional account strategy, resourcing and deployment. Helping to set and execute strategic medical initiatives within the accounts with a focus on priority accounts
•Collaborate with RET, Medical Franchise heads, IDMTs and other relevant colleagues, Scientific Alliances and Clinical Science Operations to develop and inform strategy to support external stakeholder needs, including partnerships/collaborations/research associated with unique institutional capabilities/programs aligned to medical strategy.
•In collaboration with Medical Franchises, Directors of Strategic Accounts, and NVS stakeholders, compliantly drive strategic alignment, define institutional interest and identify & prioritize both opportunities and challenges for collaboration aligned with Novartis account strategy.
•With an enterprise mindset, strong matrix leadership/collaboration; function as the primary “One Novartis” medical navigator to enable effective end-to-end stakeholder engagement including RET and other internal IM stakeholders, NIBR, TCO, GDD, US OM and US OBU aligned with the Region account strategy.
•Improve upon the NVS research footprint within priority Region accounts aligned with medical strategy (sponsored trials, IITs and collaborations) - these positions are responsible for many aspects of working compliantly within the institution while operational execution resides within other functions.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role (Requirements):

•Advanced degree required; doctoral or medical degree preferred
•10 years pharmaceutical experience in Oncology research/medical affairs, clinical development
•Medical Account Leadership experience strongly preferred
•Strong scientific knowledge & expertise in Oncology (disease and drug development/research); 10 years or > experience
•Enterprise Mindset with demonstrated strong business acumen and experience with C&D Suite engagement
•Strong background/understanding of healthcare landscape and the competitive environment
•Leadership characteristics enabling the influencing of others without direct authority
•Ability to work in a matrixed environment with strong cross-functional collaboration and networking skills/capabilities; strong team player with the ability to influence without direct authority
•ME relationship and account management expertise with proven industry experience/track record in academic institutions and large community practice groups.
