MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK

The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) is a research institute within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). UKRI is an entity that brings together nine partners to create an independent organisation with a strong voice for research and innovation, more information can be found at www.ukri.org.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Scientist position in the group of Dr Ingo Greger to undertake research into the organisation and regulation of glutamate receptor multi-protein complexes, using structural biology approaches.

This project builds on our recent structural and functional work (Herguedas et al., Science 2016 & 2019; Zhang et al., Nature 2021; Zhang et al., bioRxiv 2022). It aims to characterise diverse AMPA receptor complexes and their modulation by auxiliary proteins, and by therapeutic drugs. Candidates should have experience with cryo-electron microscopy. Experience with cryo-electron tomography would be advantageous. You will have a PhD molecular or cell biology or due to complete doctoral studies within 6 months of applying.

For further information of the research undertaken at the LMB, please visit http://www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk

Informal enquires may be made to Dr Ingo Greger at ig@mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk.

The successful applicant will be awarded a 3-year Career Development Fellowship/ Postdoctoral Training Scheme position. This is a training and development position for a Postdoctoral Scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies, is moving into a new research discipline or has limited experience of key transferable skills. The MRC LMB has excellent scientific core facilities and training opportunities.

Working for UKRI provides a whole host of benefits including a defined benefit pension scheme, excellent holiday entitlement (40 ½ days including bank holidays and privilege days) and Benenden Healthcare membership. You will also have access to employee shopping and travel discounts, on-site sport and social facilities, as well as a salary sacrifice scheme for cycle to work.

Closing date: Tuesday 20th December 2022

Final appointments will be subject to a pre-employment screening.
