The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio is the only academic medical center in Central Ohio and ranked as one of “America’s Best Hospitals” by U.S. News and World Report for 20 consecutive years! We are committed to comprehensive patient care, high caliber research and innovative medical education for medical students, post-doctoral trainees and professional colleagues.

The OSUCCC – James is the only cancer program in the United States that features a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center aligned with a nationally ranked academic medical center and a freestanding cancer hospital on the campus of one of the nation’s largest public universities.

The research project is centered on the metabolic reprogramming that regulates tumor-infiltrating myeloid cells and their interplay with T cells in mouse model and in humans. The Post-Doctoral Researcher will pursue specialized research training and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor; conducts research to characterize the immunologic and genetic basis of human cancers; develops, adopts and implements new experimental methods to achieve further characterization of various human immune cell types, their respective developmental pathways; delineates mechanisms of tumor resistance to immunotherapy, such as immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI), identifies novel genes and examines their role in the development of immunologic approaches to disease treatment; analyzes changes in mRNA or protein expression, flow cytometric analysis, gene cloning and mutation detection; integrate cutting edge single-cell RNA sequencing and multi-parametric flow cytometry with traditional molecular biology based approaches; participates in analyzing data for reports for the purpose of grants submissions; designs and conducts pre-clinical studies using a variety of disease models in mice; trains staff, focuses efforts to generate a better understanding of resistance to ICI, to conceive and develop novel treatments/combinations and biomarkers, identify new targets for novel therapeutics, use multi-color flow cytometry, cell isolation and primary cell and tissue culture. Experience with high dimensional data analysis (e.g. single-cell RNA-Seq) is highly desirable. Previous experience working with research animals (mice), DNA/RNA/Protein isolation, purification, PCR/qPCR, Western and Northern blot techniques, training others in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, real time PCR, complex data analyses.
