What You Will Achieve

We are seeking a Technician in the Analytical Research and Development API group as a laboratory-based experimentalist in Groton, CT.

Part of Analytical Research and Development, the API group is responsible for developing the analytical technology to support the synthesis of an active pharmaceutical ingredient. Analysts within this group use a wide range of instrumentation including liquid chromatography (LC), gas chromatography (GC), mass spectrometry, titrations as well as assorted physical measurement testing.

The successful candidate will partner with the API group to perform a variety of tasks to ensure laboratory instrumentation is running properly and efficiently. The candidate will also partner with analysts to troubleshoot instrumental challenges and help manage laboratory consumables and maintenance schedules.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Proper handling of chemicals commonly used in analytical laboratories (acids, bases, solvents)
  • Maintain and clean equipment (balances, LC, GC, MS, physical measurement testing (titrations, sulfated ash, etc)
  • Perform calibration curves on routine instrumentation
  • Ensure screening systems are properly set up and functioning
  • Actively maintain inventory levels of laboratory supplies and basic consumables
  • Triage and troubleshoot routine instrument challenges
  • Partner with local Space and Equipment teams
  • Ensures work areas are kept clean and orderly.


Qualifications

Must-Have

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent with either: Additional field related education (see preferred qualifications) with 0-2 years of experience OR 1-3 years of experience in a related chemistry laboratory role.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including the ability to maintain an accurate scientific notebook.
  • Familiarity with modern analytical tools and techniques.


Nice-to-Have

  • A.S. in Chemistry or related scientific field
  • Proficiency using various computer applications including, but not limited to: Empower, Biovia ELN


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The position requires an ability to work in a laboratory environment performing experiments in a laboratory fume hood, and to set up samples for data analysis.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • A standard day shift operation totaling approximately 40 hours per week is expected for this role, although some second shift or weekend coverage may be required at times as warranted by business need.
  • Training will be provided as necessary.
  • Work Location Assignment: Premise, colleagues work in a Pfizer site because it's needed to get their job done. They may have flexibility to work remotely from time to time, but they are primarily on-site.
