The College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences at Washington State University seeks an internationally distinguished researcher and academic leader to be the Director of the Institute of Biological Chemistry (IBC) (https://ibc.wsu.edu/). The position offers an exciting opportunity for leadership in developing new strategic initiatives and in further advancing established areas of departmental excellence in modern plant sciences. Members of the Institute employ biochemical, biophysical, genetic and systems biology approaches to investigate and understand fundamental processes in plants. The IBC is housed in a new state-of-the-art building with exceptional facilities for plant growth and analysis.
The Director will be an individual with outstanding academic credentials who can articulate a clear vision for leading and developing the Institute, while promoting a broadly shared sense of collegiality, mutual respect and support within the department, college and university. The successful candidate is expected to have developed and sustained a productive, internationally recognized, research program complementary to existing institute and college strengths. In addition, they will have a record of excellence in promoting graduate education. The Director’s portfolio will include the academic and fiscal management of the IBC and promoting the professional development of faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers, graduate, and undergraduate students.
