The Houston Methodist is recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Associate Professor level to join our Nanomedicine Department.
Researchers in this area should have an expertise in, but not limited to, nanotechnology, material sciences, cancer prevention, biological sensors, lab on a chip diagnostics, and immune-based degenerative diseases; significant opportunities for collaboration exist with researchers focused on personalized nanochannel drug delivery systems, injectable nanovectors that achieve desired therapeutic concentrations in target tissue, discovery of new protein biomarkers through proteomics, development of biodegradable synthetic polymers with the biological functions of natural biomaterial scaffolds and microfluidics for disease diagnostics.
Candidates must have earned a PhD or MD/PhD in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field to apply for this position. Successful candidate will have a strong research agenda with a demonstrated record of excellence in research with solid analytical and empirical skills and with evidence of substantial external research funding (R01 level funding).
Preference will be given to candidates with relevant expertise in one or more of the following areas: biomedical imaging and devices, computational biomedical engineering, biomaterials and nanomedicine, neurotechnology, immunology, and computational neuroscience.

Houston Methodist Cancer Care (HMCC) is an established Center of Excellence noted for its distinction in clinical care, research, and academics. It consists of 60,000 square feet of clinical facilities dedicated for the comprehensive management and care of cancer patients. Adjacent to the HMCC facilities lies the Houston Methodist Research Institute (HMRI). HMRI was formed in 2004 with one mandate: to rapidly and efficiently translate discoveries made in the laboratory into new diagnostics and therapeutics. HMRI has dedicated research space embedded throughout the campus, with a 440,000-square-foot research building that provides the technology and facilities needed to support all stages of research, product development, and clinical trials to benefit patients around the world. HMRI includes laboratory space to house over 1500 staff and trainees, 277 principal investigators, and more than 250 ongoing clinical trials. Over 20 core facilities enhance interdisciplinary research, including two Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facilities which provide capabilities to create clinical-grade radiopharmaceuticals, biological agents, nanoparticles and devices. HMRI houses preclinical GLP support, state-of-the-art imaging equipment for preclinical and clinical studies, and the Methodist Institute for Training, Innovation and Education (MITIE), a surgical simulation and procedural skills training facility.
Primary appointment for this position will be in HMRI and the Houston Methodist Academic Institute, with a potential appointment at Weill Cornell Medical College upon additional approval.
