Job Details

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) is recruiting a full-time, laboratory-based faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will have a developing program focused on basic and translational immunology within fields relevant to hemopoietic cell transplantation and/or gene therapy. Investigators in the gene therapy field that have relevance to transplantation are welcomed. This position will be a full-time, multi-year appointment. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a relevant hematology and/or immunology publication record and success in obtaining extramural funding.

Fred Hutch is an independent, nonprofit, unified adult cancer care and research center that is clinically integrated with UW Medicine, a world leader in clinical care, research and learning. The first National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in the Pacific Northwest, Fred Hutch’s global leadership in bone marrow transplantation, HIV/AIDS prevention, immunotherapy, and COVID-19 vaccines has confirmed our reputation as one of the world’s leading cancer, infectious disease and biomedical research centers. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch operates eight clinical care sites that provide medical oncology, infusion, radiation, proton therapy, and related services, and network affiliations with hospitals in five states. Together, our fully integrated research and clinical care teams seek to discover new cures to the world’s deadliest diseases and make life beyond cancer a reality.

At Fred Hutch, we believe that the innovation, collaboration, and rigor that result from diversity and inclusion are critical to our mission of eliminating cancer and related diseases. We seek employees who bring different and innovative ways of seeing the world and solving problems. Fred Hutch is in pursuit of becoming an antiracist organization. We are committed to ensuring that all candidates hired share our commitment to diversity, antiracism, and inclusion.

Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2023

Qualifications

For consideration, the candidate must hold a MD, DO, PhD or joint medical/PhD degree (or foreign equivalent). Pertinent research areas include (but are not limited to) basic and translational immunology within fields relevant to transplantation and/or gene therapy.

To be eligible for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. A University of Washington appointment and Washington state medical license will be required prior to any clinical practice.
