A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Linghua Zheng, in the Department of Internal Medicine Division of Medical Oncology and Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO) at the Ohio State University. The main research directions of the Zheng Lab are to 1) Study new pathways/mechanisms mediating CD8+ T cell quiescence and homeostasis 2) study new mechanisms of immune escape in solid tumors and hematologic malignancies; 3) identify novel cell surface immunomodulating pathways and their applications to treat cancer and autoimmune diseases. During his earlier research career in Dr. Lieping Chen’s lab in Yale University, Dr. Zheng has led several vital projects to identify novel pathways in both basic immunology and translational immunotherapy for cancer and autoimmune diseases based on a library including ~6000 human transmembrane proteins. He recently made a landmark discovery for CD8+ T cell biology by revealing cell surface PILRα–CD8α interactions in maintaining both naïve and memory CD8+ T cell quiescence in peripheral lymphoid organs (Zheng et al, Science, 2022). The successful candidate will be integrated into a highly collaborative and dynamic environment of immuno-oncology researchers at the new PIIO institute with access to state-of the-art facilities and technologies. We are seeking highly motivated individuals with a track record of productivity in immunology, experience in various techniques such as animal model, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, computational biology, and single cell sequencing, and the ability and interest to learn is most paramount.
