The Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) is seeking an academic scientist to serve as the Director of a new Cell and Gene Therapy Center. We seek to recruit a visionary leader who will expand research and clinical application of emerging cell-based therapeutics and gene therapy at BWH.  The Director will be an executive leader who will set the scientific, translational and strategic direction for the full continuum of cellular and gene-based therapeutics at BWH.  The Director will have a substantial record of scholarship in cell and/or gene-based research and a national/international reputation as a thought leader in this field. The Director will also contribute to the education and training mission of BWH and Harvard Medical School. The successful candidate would be expected to fully integrate with the Center’s cross-disciplinary efforts and to represent BWH in consortium initiatives spearheaded by the Innovations office of Massachusetts General Brigham and by Harvard University.

This position entails a full-time Director of the BWH Cell and Gene Therapy Center and an appointment at Harvard Medical School. The candidate should have an established research program and a demonstrated ability to attract sustained research funding. Areas of particular interest include cell modification, gene editing/silencing/replacement, vector design and translational science including application to the treatment and prevention of disease and first-in-human clinical trials.

Appointment as a Professor at the Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience, training and research achievements. Suitable candidates will have an MD, PhD, or MD-PhD.
