Institut Curie Research Center

Institut Curie (https://institut-curie.org) consists of a cancer hospital and a world-class multidisciplinary research center combining research in cell biology, genetics, epigenetics, immunology, soft matter physics, organic and medicinal chemistry. It includes over 3,300 researchers, physicians, clinicians, technicians, and administrative staff working on three sites: Paris, Orsay and Saint-Cloud. The institute facilities include an advanced imaging platform from confocal to super-resolution, multiple single cell technologies, small molecule and CRISPR screening, high throughput sequencing, bioinformatics, proteomics and mass spectrometry, antibody technologies and protein purification, nano-SIMS, cytometry, and animal housing (https://institut-curie.org/dispatch/curiecoretech-core-facilities). In addition, the hospital proximity allows access to large clinical databases and sample collections as well as to the outstanding environment of one of the main paediatric oncology departments in Europe.

Context

Research unit – U830

The “Cancer, Heterogeneity, Instability and Plasticity” department (U830) (https://institut-curie.org/unit/u830) is located at the Institut Curie joint clinical/research campus in central Paris. It currently hosts six research groups investigating basic mechanisms of cancer initiation, progression and/or resistance to treatment.

The department seeks to recruit a new group leader to reinforce its programs on fundamental mechanisms of cancer (“hallmarks of cancer”) with a particular focus on childhood cancers. The call is open to all research filling current gaps of knowledge in the mechanisms of development of childhood cancers. Important criteria for the selection of the candidates will be the quality of their scientific record and project, capacity to attract funding at the national and international levels as well as capacity to interface with biologists and clinicians in the research and clinical departments to drive developments in the field of biomedical research on cancer, the main mission of Institut Curie.

The successful candidate will contribute to the construction of an ambitious research department fully dedicated to paediatric cancers in Institut Curie.

The newly recruited group will benefit from state-of-the-art research equipment, appropriate laboratory space for 6-7 people and an attractive start-up package.
