ROLE SUMMARY

The Emerging Markets Anti-infective Scientific Expert reports to the VP EM Hospital Category Lead, and will spearhead Pfizer's effort in field of Antimicrobial stewardship, The incumbent will be responsible for strengthening Emerging Market countries surveillance efforts for the related portfolio. The incumbent will also be the focal medical person point of contact for the various public-private partnerships in the anti-infective therapy area in Emerging Markets such as the ITI and the Diflucan partnership programs. He will also lead the efforts of medically supporting the various Antimicrobial stewardship programs and diagnostic partnerships across Emerging Markets. The incumbent will also serve as scientific expert in the Anti-infective therapy area and will participate in the design, oversight, analysis, and interpretation of data relevant to the therapy area - He/she will represent Pfizer at key regional meetings, global meetings, and scientific congresses as and when deemed relevant and necessary. He/she will work with commercial organization to communicate and help interpret related medical and scientific data generated through the surveillance network as well as other related data. He/she will serve as a point of contact from EM in any interaction with the global medical team, regional team and country organizations across EM .

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and coordinate efforts for the various Antimicrobial stewardship(AMS) in Emerging markets
  • Serve as a medical point of contact for public private partnerships related to Anti-infective in Emerging markets
  • In partnership with other team members, responsible for leading projects on scientific issues of importance to the therapy area of anti-infective
  • Represents Pfizer on scientific issues related to the therapy area of anti-infective as appropriate, including meeting with local investigators, regulatory officials, and approving bodies
  • Partners with Commercial organization to ensure that key scientific information is disseminated and also helps interpret key scientific information to help develop and execute key strategies, deliverables and communication
  • Actively participate within the Medical Subcommittees (MSC), Asset team and Publication Subcommittees (PSC), representing the region for in line portfolio and new candidates
  • Participate in the implementation of global/regional clinical trials conducted in the region, in liaison with the Development Operations organization
  • Contribute to the development, review, and approval of regional and country-sponsored clinical protocols and IIRs
  • Gather, evaluate, and act on medical intelligence from countries
  • Represents Pfizer on scientific issues related to anti-infective at international scientific congresses as may be deemed necessary
  • Responds to requests from other Pfizer staff for scientific information on the therapy area of anti-infective
  • Develops, reviews manuscripts and abstracts
  • Leads work in the EM region, with a special focus on the priority markets. Provide the needed support to country medical teams in the organization of medical education events, maintain professional scientific relationships with external opinion leaders , interact with health care professionals,
  • Serves as a regional anti-infective champion, effectively negotiating with & influencing key internal & external stakeholders to
  • Serves as the regional anti-infective scientific liaison with the GPD organization and the Medical Sub Committees to ensure strong representation from Emerging markets
  • Key point of accountability for all inquiries and communications regarding the regional scientific/ medical / development aspects of the asset
  • Key liaison with Business Development Activities in the region


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
  • MD required
  • At least 5 years working in industry
  • Documented experience working in Emerging Markets or internationally across diverse cultures and geographies with KOLs, regulatory bodies, governments
  • Expertise in the disease area of relevance to the program with an established KOL network
  • Writing manuscripts and abstracts as lead author and presenting at scientific congresses
  • Designing and overseeing implementation of clinical studies, including methodology, analytic plans, interpretation, and budgets, and conducting on-site assessments of study progress
  • Cross Functional Team work is essential
  • Leading in a Matrix organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with KOLs, government officials, regulatory bodies.
  • High level of technical epidemiological and clinical disease knowledge
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts internally and externally
  • Highly effective writer and speaker
  • Strong work ethic and history of delivering projects within stated timelines.
  • Strong Matrix Management capabilities
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)
  • Willingness to travel globally
  • Ability to understand complex concepts related to including study design, analytic results, and data interpretation
