A postdoctoral position is available immediately in a multidisciplinary, well-funded and well-equipped research group in the Department of Oral Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the University of Louisville.  The overall theme of the laboratory is the investigation the host-pathogen interactions in the context of microbial communities.  Projects available include: metabolic interspecies interactions that determine the pathogenic status of oral communities; role of tyrosine phosphorylation in bacterial protein secretion through the T9SS; bacterial phosphatase-dependent modulation of epithelial cell function; and disruption of anti-viral immunity by bacteria at mucosal barriers.  Experience with microbial genetics is required.  Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field.  The candidate must also possess excellent written and oral communication skills.  Salary will be based on NIH scales. The successful candidate will join an existing team of postdoctoral researchers and graduate students, and will have the opportunity to develop independent research projects.
