Job Details

We seek a talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to fulfill a critical role in the uveal melanoma research program as a part of melanoma medical oncology research. This work is focused on developing new therapeutic strategies for metastatic uveal melanoma. Uveal melanoma is a rare subtype of melanoma with a high propensity to metastasize in the liver (>95%) and a very poor prognosis for metastatic patients. There is currently only one FDA approved therapeutic option. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop novel therapeutic strategies for metastatic uveal melanoma. Recently, we have identified metabolic vulnerabilities of metastatic uveal melanoma and observed promising responses to metabolic inhibition. Now we want to develop durable, sustainable combination therapy strategies based on this. The candidate will gain experience working closely with experts in various techniques, including standard molecular biology techniques, proteomics, metabolomics, multiple mouse models for melanoma, different mouse surgery techniques, and mammalian cell culture. Beyond the work at MD Anderson, the candidate will have extensive opportunities to learn from and network with accomplished scientists and clinicians from our collaborative institutions, including those at the Texas Medical Center.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The primary research focus is to develop new therapeutic strategies for metastatic uveal melanoma.
