Open Rank Tenure/Tenure Track Faculty Positions -Biological Sciences

Position Description

The School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) seeks to fill multiple open-rank (Full, Associate, or Assistant) tenure system faculty positions in the Department of Biological Sciences The Department and School seek candidates tackling broad and significant questions in biological and biomedical research areas in genomics, biochemistry, or molecular and cellular biology using novel interdisciplinary, computational, and/or experimental approaches. We are looking for individuals to lead outstanding research and teaching programs in their specialized fields that complement the existing departmental research and teaching strengths and synergize with other departments within the school and/or across the University. An ideal candidate is a consummate researcher, mentor, and educator dedicated to the success of all students and trainees in classrooms and laboratories. Successful candidates will find a highly engaging and collaborative intellectual environment at The University of Texas at Dallas. Qualifications

Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree in biology, biochemistry, or related fields and demonstrate their commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service, which includes a strong commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. All candidates are expected to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals of diverse backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. The appointment commences fall 2023. A doctoral degree is required prior to appointment.


Preferred Education and Experience     

Postdoctoral training is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities     

• Demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence
• Prepare and teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes
• Contribute assessment information and data as requested
• Mentor and/or advise undergraduate and/or graduate students
• Establish and/or continue an independent line of research
• Continue to expand professional influence in the academic discipline through research and/or publication
• Engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on teaching and research constraints

Reviews will commence as completed applications are received and will continue until the position is filled or the search is closed on March 31, 2023. Priority will be given to completed applications received by December 1, 2022.
