Position Description:
Yale University seeks to recruit faculty at the Assistant Professor level to Yale’s interdisciplinary Energy Sciences Institute, which unites members of multiple departments. The Institute is one of several science and engineering initiatives located at Yale’s West Campus, a 137-acre campus whose acquisition in 2007 has provided the University with unparalleled opportunities to expand its activities in cutting-edge research areas. We seek a creative scholar in the area of materials for energy conversion, energy storage, and sustainability who will have a primary appointment in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, and an outstanding record of research that demonstrates originality in addressing significant questions in the study of energy. We expect the successful candidate to establish an active research group, be an interactive member of the faculty, participate in interdisciplinary research and training, and excel in regular graduate and undergraduate teaching including core classes of the mechanical engineering curriculum. Since the successful candidate’s lab will be located near the Yale West Campus Materials Characterization Core as well as a new facility that will feature an aberration-corrected transmission electron microscope, applications from candidates that make use of equipment available in these cores are encouraged.
Application Instructions:
Applicants should create a profile on Interfolio (see link) and upload a statement of research plans, teaching plans (including a list of courses that they are qualified to teach), curriculum vitae, and up to three reprints of published work(s). Applicants should also arrange for three references to upload their letters of recommendation.
Review of applications will begin November 18, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled. For questions regarding this position, please email Marney Walker at margaret.walker@yale.edu or PO Box 208284, New Haven, CT 06520-8284.
Equal Employment Opportunity Statement:
Yale University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer. Yale values diversity among its students, staff, and faculty and strongly welcomes applications from women, persons with disabilities, protected veterans, and underrepresented minorities.
