Postdoctoral position in gender dysphoria

Uppsala University is a comprehensive research-intensive university with a strong international standing. Our ultimate goal is to conduct education and research of the highest quality and relevance to make a long-term difference in society. Our most important assets are all the individuals whose curiosity and dedication make Uppsala University one of Sweden’s most exciting workplaces. Uppsala University has over 54,000 students, more than 7,500 employees and a turnover of around SEK 8 billion.

The position is placed within the research group psychiatric epidemiology and gender dysphoria led by Senior Lecturer Fotis Papadopoulos. (Psykiatrisk epidemiologi - Institutionen för medicinska vetenskaper - Uppsala universitet (uu.se)). The work will be conducted at the Department of Medical Sciences, Psychiatry, Uppsala University Hospital.

Within the research group, a number of researchers work in the field of gender dysphoria, utilizing clinical data from the multicenter Swedish Gender Dysphoria Study (SKDS, www.skds.se) as well as nationwide data from the Swedish national health registers.

We are now looking for you who is interested in becoming a member of our team. This postdoctoral position involves participation in the planning, coordination and implementation of our research studies that aim to provide scientifically robust answers to several of the current knowledge gaps in gender dysphoria (GD). For example, you will be examining core outcomes of gender affirming treatments (GAT) in GD, the safety of those treatments, as well as factors of importance for the non-completion of a GD evaluation, the decision to stop GAT or to undergo a detransition.

This position, in an engaging, transdisciplinary and international research environment, where you will be able to contribute to internationally leading research, provides an excellent opportunity for a transition to an independent academic career.

Uppsala University and Sweden in general offer many opportunities for building an independent line of research. These include world renowned training courses and many grant opportunities tailored for junior researchers. The supervisory team will be fully supportive and keen to maximize opportunities for the postdocs’s career development.
