This is a PBMC lab management position within Clinical and Diagnostic Assay Development. The candidate will support ongoing activities of external Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMC) processing laboratories which support Pfizer clinical trials. Activities will include selecting, qualifying, training and monitoring at each external laboratory. The candidate will interact with members of Sample Management, Data Acquisition, and Data Management to ensure timely delivery of quality PBMC samples for clinical testing. With your deep knowledge in the discipline, you will be an active team member who influences at the project team level. You will be using your scientific judgment to adapt standard methods and techniques by applying prior work experience and consulting others. Your ability to plan will help in preparing short-term work activities on projects. Your creativity in developing novel processes and new ideas will be used frequently. You will undertake mentoring activities to guide your team members. It is your innovative scientific temperament that will help in making Pfizer ready to achieve new milestones and help patients across the globe.

Role Responsibilities

  • Exercise and build basic team effectiveness skills {e.g., commitment, feedback, consensus management} within the immediate work group.
  • Perform job responsibilities in compliance with current Good Manufacturing
    Practices/ Good Laboratory Practice (cGMP/GLP) and all other regulatory agency requirements.
  • Select, qualify, train, and monitor PBMC processing labs in support of clinical trials.
  • Become an SME (subject matter expert) related to PBMC isolation and management of external laboratories.
  • Review processing forms and sample inventory files from 30+ external laboratories and ensure all labs are supplied with all necessary consumables and reagents.
  • Prepare and present experimental results to project teams.
  • Comply with all safety training and good laboratory practices.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 6+ years of pharmaceutical and biotech drug discovery experience
  • Technical expertise in PBMC isolation and supporting clinical trial activities
  • Strong background in immunology, microbiology (bacteriology or virology)
  • Ability to use appropriate software to perform analysis of data
  • Excellent organization and planning skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team, strong motivation with a dedicated work ethic
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in lab management and clinical trial monitoring
  • CRO and vendor oversight experience preferred


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to perform physical activities such as standing or sitting at the lab bench or biosafety cabinet.
  • Ability to lift racks/boxes up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to focus on computer screen for several hours per day
