Summary
We are recruiting a Research Assistant I to work with members of our drug development team in The Molecular & Cellular Biology department at the Michael DeBakey Center to support our pre-clinical and translational drug studies. Small molecule drugs being tested by our team are intended to treat heart and brain conditions caused by cardiovascular disease in addition to novel anti-cancer therapies. The Research Assistant will support our efforts to test our drugs by helping with investigations using animal models and cell biology research.

Job Duties
- Operates all the instrumentation needed for the projects (training will be provided as needed).
- Performs immunofluorscent staining of cells and tissues.
- Documents experimental procedures in precise details.
- Collects and compiles imaging and cell culture data.
- Prepares reagents and solutions, and performs experimental work as needed, including live cell experiments and cell culture (2D/3D).
- Troubleshoots problematic results.
- Collects and performs experiments using primary cells from animals.
- Manages a limited number of mouse colonies.
- Interacts and reports to the drug development team.
- Maintains core laboratory organization, monitors lab reagents and does ordering.
- Optimizes novel assays and protocols under the drug development team guidance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
