The Director of Medical Communications and Scientific Training will lead the development of US Specialty scientific communication plans inclusive of medically-driven education, congress activities, publications, internal scientific training, and content to support external engagement. This plan will align with the US medicine strategy and be an integral component of the medical plan developed by the US Medical Affairs team.

This person will be accountable for the US specific scientific narrative and the development of educational objectives, medical communications and scientific training content consistent with that narrative. This person will execute medical communications via multiple channels in an integrated and data-driven customer-focused manner with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:
  • Creates US specific scientific narratives linked to evidence generation plans, US Medicine strategy, and specific to US customer dynamics.
  • Creates US specific scientific communication plans for GSK Specialty assets by leveraging the publication / data dissemination plan and scientific platform to support the creation of aligned scientific content and educational activities; applies Global plans to US market.
  • Provides strong US voice into the development of Global Scientific Platforms and the Global content co-creation process.
  • Develops and delivers the USMA Specialty congress plan and associated activities, inclusive of sponsorships, media/advertisements, medical exhibits, symposia, and relevant scientific content.
  • Leads the development and delivery of robust, customer-centric medical communications across multiple channels including websites, third-party educational platforms, email, social media, and others as appropriate. Develops key performance indicators to measure impact and uses data and analytics to optimize the customer experience.
  • Develops and is accountable for the delivery of scientific training for the internal and field medical teams on US Scientific Narratives, disease states, GSK and external competitive data.
  • Ensures organization has a timely understanding of competitor scientific activity and its implication to the overall US treatment landscape and US scientific narratives; Disseminates up-to-date scientific data internally, including recent publications, insights, and presentations, providing training as needed to medical affairs staff.
  • Accountable for accurate scientific deliverables and following GSK policies and processes for all activities.
  • For all deliverables, collaborates with medical experts as appropriate and cross-functional internal teams inclusive of clinical development, medical, and marketing.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • PharmD, PhD, or advanced science degree (Masters of Science, MPH) .
  • Master's degree, PhD, PharmD in science related field
  • Medical Affairs experience
  • Strong organizational, planning, and business acumen skills
  • Ability to prioritize business needs and flexibility to address them when business appropriate.
  • 3+ years of Medical Affairs or Scientific Communications experience.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze and organize scientific data.
  • Experience in developing medical education content, including scientific slide decks and digital content.
  • Knowledge of publication guidelines and practices.
  • Experience with strategic and tactical planning.
  • Experience with congress planning and associated deliverables.
  • Experience leading and working within cross-functional teams.
