Tenure Track Assistant Professor Position Conservation Ecologist The Department of Biological Sciences at Binghamton University (SUNY: State University of New York) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of Conservation Ecology. The ideal candidate will develop an original research program that addresses fundamental questions in ecology that apply to issues surrounding anthropogenic impacts and conservation. We encourage applicants who incorporate field and experimental approaches, consider interactions between ecological and evolutionary processes, and leverage local natural systems, including freshwater ecosystems. Priority will be given to applicants whose research program complements departmental strengths in Global Change Biology, Genetic and Molecular Interactions, and Infectious Diseases. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field and will join a diverse biology department with over 30 tenured/tenure-track and teaching faculty members. The University is committed to encouraging interdisciplinary collaborations on campus and community engagement through initiatives and centers, including the Transdisciplinary Area of Excellence in Sustainable Communities and the Center for Integrated Watershed Studies. The University's natural areas for teaching and research cover 600 acres of undeveloped land, including the Nature Preserve and an outdoor Ecological Research Facility. The successful candidate is expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program, contribute to the department's teaching mission through undergraduate and graduate courses in their areas of expertise, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
