Postdoctoral Position in T Cell Therapy and Tumor Immunology

with Christian Hinrichs Lab at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Christian Hinrichs at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Dr. Hinrichs’s research group specializes in the discovery and development of T cell therapy for cancer, including tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and gene-engineered T cells. Highly motivated candidates with a background in tumor immunology are encouraged to apply.

Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey has recently established the Cancer Immunology and Metabolism Center of Excellence. The Center of Excellence is home to the Cell Therapy Program, which features the Hinrichs laboratory, GMP process development laboratory, GMP Manufacturing facility, and access to the Immune Monitoring and Advanced Genomics Center. The Hinrichs laboratory seeks to discover new cell-based cancer treatments, define mechanisms of therapeutic response and resistance, innovate more effective treatments, and identify biomarkers that predict response. Active areas of research include T cell receptor discovery, membrane-tethered cytokine technologies, tumor resistance mutations, target antigen discovery, and preclinical development of new TCR-based treatments.

The successful candidate should have a PhD and/or MD in Biological Sciences or related areas and prior experience especially with detailed knowledge of T cell biology, tumor immunology, antigen presentation, T cell receptors, tumor antigens, and immunotherapy. Expertise in immunological assays, molecular biology, gene transfer methods, animal models is required. Basic knowledge of bioinformatics processes for genomic and transcriptomic research is also preferred.  The individual must have effective skills in oral and written communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, and be adaptable to changes in technological and scientific directions.

Applicants will need to apply via Rutgers University job posting and submit a cover letter and a CV, including publications and contact details of at least three references. Please contact Dr. Christian Hinrichs at cinjcelltherapy@cinj.rutgers.edu with questions.
