What You Will Achieve

The Rare Disease Research Unit (RDRU) is part of Pfizer's Biotherapeutics in Pfizer Worldwide R&D. Pfizer's Non-Malignant Hematology Research within the RDRU focuses on developing multiple therapeutic approaches to develop new therapies for rare hematologic diseases and rare renal diseases. The candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team partnering closely with the RDRU Biology and colleagues and be responsible for delivering high quality data to the project team and presenting results project and team meetings. The successful candidate will make use of problem solving, critical thinking, and effective written and oral presentation skills in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, dynamic laboratory scientist with demonstrated experience and expertise with in vitro/ex vivo assays to contribute to and support project advancements. Applicants must have experience in wide range of in vitro assays. The work will involve the designing and performing of assays, analyzing the results as well as assessing and maintaining the reproducibility of the data generated. The candidate will work closely together with other team members to deliver high quality data. This particular role will have a strong focus on implementing in vitro assays to characterize potential therapies, delivering high quality data interpreting and effectively presenting results at team meetings. The candidate is expected to make significant technical contributions by using established methodologies and will be encouraged to practice novel technical approaches.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Develop and perform wide range of in vitro and cell-based assays.
  • Execute on in vitro/ex vivo assays, in vitro cell based assays.
  • Molecular and cell biology (transfection, SDS-PAGE, Western blot analysis, immunoprecipitation, genetic knockdown by RNP plasmid transfections, ELISA, flow cytometry, gene expression analyses such as quantitative real-time PCR, flow-cytometry).
  • In vitro cell culture, including work with primary cell culture.
  • Experience with kidney cells/tissues/assays is preferred (Cell adhesion; migration; immunofluorescent staining; cell permeability assay).
  • Generate and interpret data for presentation at project meetings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams both internally and externally.
  • Ability to multi-task multiple projects with overlapping timelines.


Qualifications

Must-Have
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of experience in a Biomedical Research (Biotechnology, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or equivalent) or Master's degree with relevant experience
  • Experience in laboratory research required with strong skills in basic molecular biology and in vitro assays: ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western blot analysis, immunoprecipitation and cell culture.
  • Excellent skills in the development, implementation, and execution of in vitro assays.
  • Required expertise with in vitro assays, in vitro cell based assays, ELISA, QRTPCR, FACS, molecular and cell biology (transfection, SDS-PAGE, Western blot analysis, immunoprecipitation).
  • Strong in vitro cell culture skills, including work with primary cell culture.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently, as well collaborate as part of internal and external cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive for results and generate innovative solutions with minimum supervision.
