What You Will Achieve

In this role, you'll be joining a team which plays a vital role in this mission by using science and technology to design, characterize and develop the dosage form of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and drug product formulations to enable the drug discovery process. You will be able to leverage your existing scientific knowledge, as well as develop in new areas, to assess the chemical & physical stability and bio - performance of the potential new drugs for Pfizer's therapeutic areas.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Apply technical skills to projects/assignments within own work group/ project team.
  • A ssist to define and implement screening and characterization strategies to provide dosage form and formulation risk assessments of potential drug candidates.
  • Conduct physical and chemical characterization of small molecules of pharmaceutical relevance.
  • Creatively plunge into scientific problems and seek to solve using contemporary experimental techniques as well demonstrating willingness to challenge status quo.
  • Participate on multidisciplinary project teams and collaborate with colleagues to define and implement formulation design and seek to improve modified release opportunities.
  • Author, Review and /or Approve development documentation such as scientific reports, memos, protocols, change control documents, risk analyses, etc.
  • Effectively communicate experimental observations and results both verbally and written format as well as occasional presentations.
  • Record experimental details and data into an electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Review the laboratory experiments and other written records of fellow scientists.


Qualifications

Must-Have
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) and 3+ years of experience .
  • Good organizational skills .
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in general computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentations.


Nice-to-Have
  • Experience developing pharmaceutical dosage forms including solid orals, topicals, sterile solutions, etc with a track record of scientific prowess
  • Knowledge of current US and global Regulations, FDA and ICH guidance, ISO standards for syringes/injectors and quality system regulations (Part 4) for combination products .


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Role will require extensive laboratory or pilot plant work with extensive hands-on use of chemicals. Use of appropriate personal protective equipment is required. Occasional work with potent compounds and their engineering/safety controls will be necessary.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to participate in occasional video/teleconferences outside of normal work hours in support of global projects and initiatives and PharmSci groups based in other global regions
  • Minimal Domestic and International travel may be required typically
