The Jiangmen Laboratory of Carbon Science and Technology (JCL) invites applications for researcher/postdoc positions in Silicon energy power system, CCUS, energy storage, ecosystem carbon accounting and fixation, carbon data analytics and zero-emission system design, climate change policy and finance. The Laboratory is jointly founded by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST(GZ)) and Jiangmen Municipal Government. It orients research and development to national strategic targets of decarbonization, climate change and mitigation. The HKUST was established in 1991 and ranked 34 th in the 2022 QS World University Ranking. With two campuses in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, the HKUST promotes cross-disciplinary research, education and innovation in areas of strategic significance.

The HKUST-JCL aims to attract the most talented scientists to tackle the grand challenges facing humanity by pursuing cutting-edge research in partnership with leading scientists and located in a most vibrant region. The awardees will receive globally competitive support with an annual stipend, including a basic salary and living allowances with medical insurance and retirement plan. More benefits of equivalent amount may be available to eligible candidates meeting additional requirements. The exact amount of the stipend is determined based on individual qualifications and subject to related policies. Excellent living and working environment with experimental and computation facilities are provided to all fellows. Each awardee will receive start-up funding.

 

Research groups:

Silicon energy power system research group;

New energy storage technology research group;

Ecological carbon sink and carbon resource utilization technology research group;

Carbon capture and storage research group;

Carbon policy and planning design research group;

Job requirements:

Awardees are expected to be employed at the HKUST-JCL;

The candidates must hold a doctoral degree with demonstrated achievement in research in climate and carbon science, technology, policy, and finance, agriculture, ecology, and related fields;

The working languages are English and Chinese;

Ability to work independently, with a sense of responsibility and teamwork spirit.

Salary and treatment:
