The Department of Biomedical Engineering in the School and Engineering and Applied Science is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track assistant professor faculty position at Columbia University in the City of New York. Exceptional candidates at the tenure-track/tenured associate professor, or tenured professor level are also invited to apply. Candidates are sought in the broad areas of Biomedical Imaging and Artificial Intelligence. A joint appointment with Columbia University Irving Medical Center is also possible.

The successful candidate is expected to advance their field by developing an original and leading externally funded research program, and contributing to the educational missions of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and, as appropriate, Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Columbia offers a rich environment for multidisciplinary research and encourages collaborations with additional academic departments and units across Columbia University. This position seeks candidates who would develop biomedical engineering research in crosscutting fields. The ability to teach undergraduate and graduate level biomedical engineering courses is a must.

The Department is especially interested in qualified candidates who will contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or its professional equivalent in Biomedical Engineering or a related field by the start date of the appointment. Postdoctoral experience is preferred but not required for a junior-level appointment. Applicants for a tenure-track position must demonstrate the potential to do pioneering research and to teach effectively. Candidates to be considered at the senior level should have an outstanding leadership record in academic research and education.
