What You Will Achieve

Pfizer's BioMedicine Design Biotherapeutic Expression and Purification group (BEP) is seeking a creative and driven senior candidate to join our efforts in the development of novel RNA therapeutic platforms. This candidate would leverage his/her deep understanding of RNA biology to lead the discovery effort in building the next-generation RNA therapeutics such as circRNA, saRNA and others. This candidate will work in a dynamic group of innovative scientists to push the boundary of mRNA translation efficiency and stability. This candidate should be proficient in large scale RNA construct design, production, screen and data interpretation. Expertise in the space of IRES and RNA modifications would be highly desired. This candidate would also mentor junior scientists within the group.

How You Will Achieve
  • Develop the RNA production processes for large scale screening and work with the QC group to ensure high RNA quality
  • Work with bioinformaticians to design and develop construct libraries for large scale RNA screening
  • Deep understanding in molecular biology and design strategies to build the DNA libraries in arrayed or pooled format
  • Propose experimental designs and work closely with cross-functional teams, project leads and senior group members on identifying/advancing best strategies and planning/executing deliverables
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including therapeutic discovery teams, research units, bioanalytical teams, formulation teams, engineering leads, and R&D project leaders
  • Routinely generate top quality data packages and present at project meetings
  • Work in fast-paced projects
  • Mentor and cross-train junior colleagues


  • PhD in Chemical/Biochemical/Biological Engineering or a related discipline with 2+ years of industry experience in RNA therapeutics development
  • Deep understanding of RNA biochemistry and cell biology
  • Extensive experience with DNA and RNA manipulation (including recombinant DNA techniques, IVT, sequence analysis, DNA/RNA production, purification, and analysis, etc.).
  • Experience in cellular assays for RNA screening
  • Understanding of RNA innate immune activation
  • Curiosity and passion for research with strong interest in RNA therapeutics, creative and flexible thinking
  • Ability to plan, organize, problem solve (troubleshoot), design experiments, work efficiently independently and in a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross functional teams

  • Scientific background in RNA therapeutics, translation regulation, IRES biology and RNA modification is highly desired
